Nioh 3 Multiplayer: Co-op Guide, Expeditions & Online Features
Nioh 3 refines the cooperative experience for up to three players, integrating it seamlessly into the new open-field exploration. There are two primary pathways for interaction.
Multiplayer Modes
The game offers flexible online play options for different situations and preferences.
Summon Visitor
A host player uses an "Ochoko Cup" at a shrine to summon "Visitors" who assist until a boss is defeated or the host perishes.
- Quick drop-in/drop-out gameplay
- Ideal for boss fights or tough encounters
- Visitors earn rewards for helping
Expeditions
A more persistent mode where a group shares a "Co-op Gauge". This mode is ideal for clearing entire open-field regions, as progress is saved for all participants, and players can revive each other without restarting the mission.
- Shared progress for all players
- Revive teammates without mission restart
- Best for extended exploration sessions
Benevolent Graves (Solo)
The "Benevolent Grave" system returns, allowing solo players to summon AI-controlled phantoms of other players for a simulated co-op experience. This is perfect for players who prefer solo play but want occasional assistance.
Note: While the demo is free, online features on PlayStation 5 may require a PS Plus subscription depending on regional policies.
